Canara Bank

Canara Bank is a major majority state owned commercial bank in India that offers various financial products and banking services to its customers including personal, SME, NRI and Corporate banking. 

It was founded in 1906 and the Government of India nationalized Canara Bank in 1969. While it is a state owned bank, in the 2010 Annual Report it mentioned that the central government will not hold less than 51% of the bank and it has its shares listed on the NSE India and Mumbai (Bombay) stock exchanges.

It has a significant physical presence within the country with as at June 2010 having 3057 branches (2681 with internet and mobile banking) including 2000 ATMs.  It also has branches abroad in the UK (London, Leicester),  China (Hong Kong, Shanghai), UAE and Qatar.

Canara provides savings & deposit products for customers excess funds including fixed deposit accounts, current accounts, savings bank accounts, gold deposit accounts, and recurring deposit accounts.
